who can vote?
Right to vote
- People who come from outside the EU if they have resided continuously in Finland for at least two (2) years by 21 st February 2025.
- A citizen of Finland or another EU country, Iceland or Norway must have a municipality of residence registered in Finland by 21 February 2025
what are the municipalities duties and activities
Helsinki's statutory duties cover the following:
- education and early childhood education and care
- cultural, youth, library and sports services
- urban planning and land use
- water and waste management
- environmental services
- health and social services (will be transferred to the counties as part of the health and social services reform)
- fire and rescue services (will be transferred to the counties as part of the rescue services reform)
